Meet Rachel

Registered Nurse and National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach

Hi, I'm Rachel! Like many of you, my personal wellness journey hasn't always been easy, or perfect. Growing up, my family cooked most meals at home, but we definitely had a sweet tooth! In high school, I stayed active playing varsity volleyball and tennis. When I entered college, however, I ate more unhealthy foods and exercised less, along with an erratic sleep schedule and high stress from being in nursing school. I gained about 15 pounds, and after graduation, I continued an unhealthy diet, often eating the snacks and sweets in the nurse's breakroom while working the night shift. I was caught off guard when I experienced secondary infertility while trying to get pregnant with our second child. After six months, we saw a fertility doctor, who diagnosed me with PCOS. The next 6 months were filled with medications, ultrasounds, bloodwork, and lots of waiting and heartache before we finally found out we were expecting triplets! As you can imagine, healthy living went by the wayside as I was in survival mode for the first year after they were born. I continued to follow a low fat, high sugar diet, unaware how it was affecting my hormones. In 2018, I decided to take a hard look at the foods we were consuming as a family: Lucky Charms and Froot Loops for breakfast, Goldfish and Gogurt for snacks, and sweet treats every weekend. Working at my local hospital, I was also becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of preventative care and yearned for a more holistic approach. I became a Certified Health Coach and started my own Health Coaching practice so I could share my knowledge with others in my community. Then more obstacles arose in my health journey: back surgery in 2020 for a severe herniated disc, a surprise pregnancy in 2022 at the age of 39 (a true testament to successful hormone regulation!) and a broken wrist in 2023. Each time, I've shifted my mindset and renewed my commitment to living the 5 core components of a healthy lifestyle.

As I continue to work on my own wellness goals, it is my mission to guide others to help them achieve optimal health. Focusing on good nutrition, adequate movement, quality sleep, mitigating stress, and reducing environmental exposures in the context of a busy life can feel overwhelming. If you're ready to begin your wellness journey, I would be honored to walk alongside you. Let's do this together!
